Julia Sawalha was born on September 9, 1968 in London, England. She is the daughter of an English woman and a Jordanian actor named Nadim Sawalha. Her formal education came from the Italia Conti Academy. Julia Sawalha and her two other sisters were raised in London. Her desire for acting started at a very young age. She made her debut on TV when she starred in Press Gang, a long running hot TV serial about a group of teenagers who are involved in a youth-oriented newspaper. Here, Julia played Lynda Day. On the other hand, Julia Sawalha made her feature film debut in 1990 when she starred on the film Buddy’s Song as Kelly.

Bob Spiers, the producer of Press Gang, later directed Julia Sawalha to Absolutely Fabulous. Since its premier in 1992, the sitcom has been highly popular in Great Britain.
